I recently got my copy of your new Cederberg map and just want to congratulate you on a very brilliant production. The quality is excellent and the cartography is by far your best yet. I love the way you have packed loads of valuable information into the space available and yet the map feels quite minimalist at the same time - great design work.
Galeo Saintz

I just wanted to say thanks a mil for the great maps! We returned last week from a 10 day trip to the Cederberg where we spent 5 days out in the mountains, your maps were excellent!!! We managed to cover 80 km and your maps were 100% accurate. It was my first time in the Cederberg and having your maps made it really easy to navigate our way through the vast terrain. Thanks for the great work and I will definitely be a fan for life :).
Liam Poole

I am back from my travels and was delighted to find your latest labour of love in the mail box. Well done, it really is a hell of an achievement.

Fiona McIntosh

I ordered the Cederberg map a couple of months ago ... I just came back to my home in Switzerland and I want to congratulate you on the maps you have developed so well. I did not want to hike alone, particularly at night due to fear of leopards and puff adders so I hired a local guide to escort me. In fact, your maps were so helpful that at some point when we needed to find our bearings even the local guide asked me for your map! At that moment I was happy to know we came well prepared and with just a glance at your map we were able to quickly find our way again through the park. To be on the safe side I had even downloaded topo maps onto my GPS and not even those were as detailed as the ones you have developed.

Looking forward to visiting South Africa again.
Walter Trimble

I have just received the new Hike the Cederberg map set. What beautiful and detailed Maps.If you are a keen hiker or mountaineer, mountain biker, 4x4 enthusiast, or simply enjoy the Beauty of outdoors and nature ... this is certainly a MUST HAVE set of Maps. A big thank you and a job well done to Peter Slingsby and the team.

Pietro Villa

Congrats on the excellent new Cederberg map. I have no doubt it is the best map ever produced for that area. Excited to take it for a test drive and proud to have played a miniscule role in its development.

Sam Jack

The new Hike the Cederberg map set is a joy. It is filled with enough information and detail sure to keep any map and/or Cederberg lover captivated. However, the best part of the map is how it excited me to get out there and use it!

Wim Morris

Just been pouring over your masterpiece during the last few days and I must congratulate you on an absolutely splendid body of work. Well done!!

Tony Lourens

This is just to say that we think your new Cederberg map is smashing.   Thank you so much.   We look forward to some wonderful walking there next year.

I think of doing the ‘Hoerikwaggo Trail’ of which I also have the 4 maps; they are as splendid as all of your maps: a great job you’ve done!
Joerg Hortner, Germany

Slingsby maps are the best! The maps were a haven for us and thanks to them we had the best time of our lives hiking around without worries. The trails are as described and the maps are so accurate, they give one a sense of security. Not to mention the legends of what to expect to see in terms of wildlife, and the identification of the beautiful plants of South Africa. All of that in colours of course. Beautiful jobs! If you plan a trip to SA save yourself a lot of troubles and headaches by ordering and buying the Slingsby maps.

Brigitte Cohn, USA

At long last a decent map of Table Mountain, and it’s not just a map, it’s a work of art!

Meridian Hiking Club Newsletter

The map, by well known cartographer Peter Slingsby, is endorsed by the Table Mountain National Park, and it is the most up-to-date and accurate map of the mountain that is currently available.

Paul Britton, Manager: Planning, TMNP

Peter Slingsby ... well known for his excellent hiking maps...

Evelyn Holtzhausen, Spokesperson, TMNP

I would like to thank you for, and congratulate you on, a beautifully crafted series of maps. They are nothing less than excellent, a delight to peruse and a pleasure to use.’

As the earlier editions were too the third edition is outstanding — immensely useful, and beautiful. Peter Slingsby’s maps are a work of art. And buying from slingsbymaps.com was a breeze. Within three days it had arrived in the post.  What a pleasure.

Richard Cooke

Where would I be without a Slingsby (or three)? Paul and I spent lots of Sunday walking in Silvermine, accompanied by Peter Slingsby. Actually, it was one of his amazing maps, not the real him, but his maps are so saturated with his humour and his dedication to mapping in close and useful detail every trail and path on Table Mountain and the Peninsula, it might as well be him walking along next to you, pointing things out along the way.

Heather Moore & Paul Edmunds

Just wanted to drop you a line to say how fantastically clear and user-friendly your map series is. I’m a keen mountain biker and have been thoroughly enjoying using the Table Mountain and Silvermine ones. You make it so easy - even for an appalling navigator like myself!

Dominique le Roux, Publishing Manager: Travel & Tourism, Struik Publishers

We got a copy of Hout Bay, and compliment you on another excellent map. The detail is superb, particularly on the hiking paths.

Peter & Jean Foster

The Hout Bay map is truly wonderful ...

Mike Hanna

Congratulations on your stunning series of maps. They are easy to use and very informative.

Andrew Parsons, GPS Tour Systems

I’m a great fan of your maps, which I use regularly when walking in the Table Mountain National Park.

My map arrived earlier this week and was put to use yesterday exploring Cape Point. Someone mentioned that “with a map like this, you don’t need a guidebook”.
Rudi de Lange

Thank you for your brilliant map ... it took me more than three pleasurable hours to read it!

Sandy Newall

I think of doing the "Hoerikwaggo Trail" of which I also have the 4 maps; they are as splendid as all of your maps: a great job you've done!

Joerg Hortner, Germany

Thanks again for your work on producing these brilliant maps – it seems to have inspired a few couch potatoes to get out there and experience the mountains again.

Bernard Jordaan

Astonishly superb map marking almost everything a hiker would wish to know. Additional historical, topographical and tourist information is a real bonus. Highly recommended!

Marcus Lodwick

My favourite is the Cape Point map — I’ve spent the last three weekends walking there. I’ve found the estimated distances and times invaluable. I don’t know the area, and the map has been brilliant. It’s allowed me to tack together a few walks, to make up a decent 5+ hour walk. So, I strung together a walk ... to Sirkelsvlei to Olifants and back to the gate. Your distances and times allowed me to make it back to the gate before closing time with confidence. Thanks for opening the door and encouraging me to get out there!

Tam Newdigate

The latest set of maps are brilliant. Congratulations.

Get Peter Slingsby's Baviaanskloof map — a Baviaanskloof adventure without it is like a house without a stoep.
Drive Out

One of the most detailed maps I ever saw about a region in South Africa! Absolutely necessary in my eyes if you want to visit the Baviaanskloof!

Mario Anthes

The most comprehensive map (I’ve) ever seen. Thanks. Recommended.

Willie Knoetze

To say your maps are good, wonderful, exellent or fantastic is the understatement of the last few centuries! – I literally have already spent hours digging through the few I’ve got, and the end is not near ... Thank goodness I read about you in WEG magazine. Will you ever map the rest of SA? Thanks for a wonderful product !

Many thanks for excellent service. The Peninsula Map is ideal for our purpose as our daughter has moved to Cape Town and we can now follow her outdoor activities. The detail is excellent.
Peter Pearson

I promptly received my maps today and very happy with them. They are in good condition. I think your maps are beautifully made and articulate.

His map of the Cederberg is excellent, as is his series on Table Mountain, and the Cape Peninsula.

At last an opportunity to tell you that the map looks fabulous.
Su Birch CEO, Wines of South Africa

...what we see as the definitive map of the winelands... Peter believes that the stunning beauty of the Western Cape’s landscape deserves maps that show off the mountainous topography as well as the grid of roads.
Winescape magazine in association with WOSA

Peter Slingsby's maps are in a league of their own ... scenic routes are marked with an icon of a smiling face. It is obvious that Slingsby and his team took the trouble to visit the region themselves repeatedly.
Bun Booyens, Drive Out

I still can't get over how great a map it is’
Angeline

This is a useful map if you go to the Cape Winelands. Many wineries, B&B and tourist attractions are on the map. My rental car was equipped with GPS but the GPS information was very poor. The map was more helpful than the GPS!

Just to say Thank you.  You were recommended by the tourist office in Clanwilliam and having placed the order with you on Monday my map arrived here in England on Thursday. Great map - Great value. Thank you.
David Millar

One should not visit the area without this map or one might well miss some of the wonderful features of this truly magnificent area.
Ronnie Hazell

A mate and I took a cruise with 2 of the new Triumph Tigers up to Clanwilliam last month and used your Cederberg map, we were very happy with it, thanks for all the detail. Mooi loop.
Iain Buchholz

WOW!!! Absolutely beautifully illustrated - definitely worth the buy!  Thank you for making our holiday a little more special.
Dayan du Plooy

Congratulations Peter Slingsby, you have done it again. The map is fantastic and has the minute and relevant details one comes to expect from ‘the ant’... This is a must for those who visit the area - both for the on-road and off-road enthusiasts and, of course, for those who prefer shank’s pony.
Eugene Moll, Veld & Flora

Thanks a lot for the fast delivery of this fantastic and very detailed map to northern Germany! Now we can really start to plan what we are going to do and where we want to hike while we are in the Cederberg in July this year.
Stephan Homberg

The Cederberg [map] must surely be the best guide yet devised to anything and everything of interest in the area, from Op die Berg in the south to Gifberg in the north ...
Tony Hull, Country Life

The Cederberg is the sort of map we need to develop South Africa’s less frequented but far more scenic rural potential.
Ride Mag

I just want to let you know that your new maps are amazing. Thanks for a job well done.
Sonja Ungerer, Citrusdal Tourism Bureau

Just a note to congratulate you on these excellent publications (Beyond the Cederberg; Cederberg map). The book is really fascinating. The map inspires one to explore even more. I wish the map would not end at the edge of the paper but carry on and on!
Adrian Brewster, Lutzville

This week I purchased your latest Cederberg map. The new map is BRILLIANT and I like the fact that it covers the entire area right into the Ceres Karoo.
Richard Poulter

Thank you very much for the copy of your new Cederberg map. The map is absolutely superb.
Johan van der Westhuizen, Red Cederberg Reserve

Wow - a fantastic achievement getting so much info onto this map - chalk and cheese from the old one - Well done Peter and thanks for the speedy delivery. 5 stars.
Tom de Roo

Thank you so much to get this great map on such an easy, quickly and free of charge way to Berlin, Germany! The map looks very good in detail. Now we (and our bicycles and trekking shoes) think (and hope), that we will be every time on the right way on our trip.

To look at Peter Slingsby's maps is to want to go there. The detail and accuracy of this updated, double-sided map is impressive. Good value – good, accurate stuff.
Caroline Voget, Veld & Flora

Thank you for sending the maps so quickly – even with a UK postal strike they arrived promptly – and no extra postage to pay for the UK – amazing!
Nigel Hunt

Recommended! Garden Route – the map – 5 of 5 Stars!
Giancarlo di Pietra

Well Peter, you have done it again – I can now retire my 1983 Ziggy the Ant version which has become dogeared and falling apart. This is a great map of an equally great area and a must to help you decide where many roads and paths in the area lead to and which to explore.
Tom de Roo

This is an excellent map ... The Garden Route map will come in handy – we're going to Klein Brak for our December-break. Thanks for a brilliant product.
Lampies Lamprecht

Thanks for all your hard work to give me maps to find my way around our beautiful country.

I have the Overberg one … I smaak it stukkend.
Iain Buchholz

I saw this map in Stanford’s, London and was amazed at the level of detail. It’s an order of magnitude ahead of any other South African map I’ve seen. And you can have it airmailed to the UK, post free, so that I paid only two-thirds of the price I’d have paid in London. It's a thing of beauty, a labour of love. Well done, Peter and your team.
Stephen Cotton

Excitement, relief and gratitude greeted the arrival of “the map the Overberg has been waiting for.” It is a magnificent piece of work, an asset and tool for the tourism industry in the Overberg to relish and use. Every household in the region will no doubt also want one.
Hermanus Times

Wegbreek

If only we could clone Peter Slingsby and plant one of him in every province, we would know so much more about our country ... his latest release is so chock-a-block with information on the Overberg that you almost wish the map were bigger. A particularly classy touch is Slingsby’s smiley-face rating of byways on the main map, with a smile for enjoyable routes ...
Jeanne van der Merwe, Go!
Go! says: All touring maps should be this good.

SOUTH COAST HOLIDAY SPECIAL [Garden Route, Overberg] ... Even in the age of GPS, real maps are indispensable. I’m building a nice collection of Slingsby maps – this is my fourth or fifth set, and the price of this special can not be beat. 5 stars.
Steven Bayhack

Detailed, clear and interesting, one can pore over this quality map for hours whilst planning the trip. Thanks to The Maps team for the speedy despatch of another excellent publication!
Di Sanders

I have the Overberg map published by you and find it most interesting and useful especially as I have only recently arrived in the Cape.
Keith

Dear Peter, dear Team, first I want to thank you for all the wonderful maps, we used them excessive in 2 journeys through the Western Cape in November 2007 and in January 2008, we were driving around 10 000 km’s. I hope one day we will meet you.
BeeTee

Thank you for making up such interesting maps and I hope what you have put here will add to many others enjoyment of the Whale Coast.
Peta Thomas, Total Impact Communications

I am at present using your Overberg Map. A friend and I are hiking up the coast to Mozambique. Thanks for the details you have included in your maps and for their accuracy.

I have bought a lot of maps over the years as I have a small safari company. This is the most comprehensive and detailed map I have ever bought. I will never waste my time and money buying from another company again! The delivery time also exceeded all my expectations. Thank you for an excellent map and excellent service.
Gert Jacobs

I have just received your map of the Swartberg & Klein‑Karoo, which I purchased as a keen motorcycle adventure‑rider. Great map and great on‑line service!
Jeremy Nel

As an former pilot and rampant traveller, now a dirt road bike rider, I have graduated from carrying a number of map books and GPS to relying 100% on Slingsby maps in the Cape. There are very few navigable tracks which are not shown on these maps, and the link to topography makes them just so much more interesting to use. Thank goodness you have brought out the Swartberg and Klein Karoo. Thanks for great value products!
Rob Wilson

The maps are absolutely brilliant - works of art as well as essential tools.
Noelle Peacock

It is a fantastic map and a lot of work has gone into it.
Boy Spies – De Oude Meul Country Lodge

Wow, what a piece of work. Congratulations!  I like the size and feel of the map.
Rudi Oberholzer, Swartberg Cultural and Specialist Adventure Guide

Recently used the Swartberg, Little Karoo map for a bike trip (as much Dirt Roads as possible) from CT to Oudtshoorn and back. I must compliment you on a superb product. The detail is exceptional - I was fortunate to have probably been one of the few that have laid hands on it and had a hard time keeping it! Could have sold lots if I had them.

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of your amazing Wild Coast map while in the Wild Coast during my 19-week bicycle tour around the border of South Africa and I have nothing but praise for it. Once I got my hands on it, it made getting around the Wild Coast a breeze. No stress about getting lost which meant more time just enjoying the scenery. Without this map I would probably still be lost back there. Thanks for saving my ass and making that section of my trip a memorable one.
Clinton Jones

Tydens ons besoek aan die Wildekus het ons julle 2e uitgawe kaart gebruik, en nieteenstaande die feit dat ons twee ou pensioenarisse is, ons sonder 'n GPS maklik ons pad gevind het.
Schalk Kruger

I ordered three Wild Coast maps in two different shipments to the USA.  Awesome maps and FAST service. Can't do better than that! Thank you.
Vanessa Kauffmann

Your Wild Coast map: it’s magnificent!
Don Pinnock, Getaway

Peter Slingsby and his team have scored a coup with this map ... it is the first detailed tourist map of a 300km sweep of coast from East London to Port Edward.
Vivien Horler, The Argus

Here’s a long-overdue treat – the first ever detailed, fold-out, waterproof tourist map of the entire Wild Coast ...
Country Life

Peter Slingsby’s new user-friendly map is the first and only complete tourism map of the Wild Coast ... plan your Wild Coast trip to the finest detail ...

This detailed accurate, well-annotated and interesting map made my umpteenth visit to the Wild Coast that much more enjoyable (and informative!). Well done to The Maps team.
Di Sanders

Very informative guide to the Wild Coast with lots of local info (eg shipwrecks, trails etc.) Excellent delivery service – arrived 4 days after purchase even during Xmas rush.
Paul Colvin

I recently bought Peter Slingsby’s Wild Coast map ... I was pleasantly surprised with the quick response and how quickly the map was mailed to me ... I’m busy finalising our holiday to the Wild Coast ... the map ... assisted me immensely in planning our holiday with all the additional information supplied.
Zack Enslin

We recently did a hike along the Transkei Wild Coast and found your excellent map extremely helpful! Your map helped us much more than the Tracks for [commercial name] we had on the GPS ...Thanks once again for an excellent map!
Roelof and Ina Diener

I have just done a 2 week Wild Coast off-road trip based on your map. I found the map excellent. Well Done. Jolly good maps – keep it up!

Once in a while, a modest individual creates a modest piece of software that is quietly slipped out into the world with no fanfare or pretence, and then proceeds to dazzle the select core of users who discover the package ... Fonts of Afrika deserves to dazzle anyone who ever wished they could get more than WingDings out of Windows ...
Arthur Goldstuck, PC Review

I highly recommend Peter Slingsby’s Fonts of Afrika CD. The picture fonts of animals, people, plants and other images that he has designed are extremely creative, beautiful and varied. I have used them in a book that I designed, and I hope to have the opportunity to design other books that call for the wonderful images that he makes available through his fonts.
Jill Ronsley SUN Editing & Book Design

By the way, your fonts are fantastic. Thank you for allowing me to use them. They are so wonderful!
Lorrie

Thank you for the incredible fonts you have made available.

TP Stokoe - the man, the myths, the flowers - a wonderful book that captures the magic of his plants and the Cape Mountains that he loved.
Liz McMahon and Michael Fraser in "The Smallest Kingdom" [Kew]

... a credit to Slingsby and Johns’ intuitive feel for the metis of the historian’s craft ... the book is an inspired and brave contribution to recovering the hidden history of the making of the Cape Floral Kingdom ...
Lance van Sittert, Dept of Historical Studies, University of Cape Town

I was riveted and couldn't put it down. Congratulations on a beautifully produced, delightfully written, inspirational and richly informative book ... your writing style and your ability to make botany exciting have all combined to make this a book to treasure.
Tim Attwell

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of his life and all the pictures. Amida's painting of Mimetes stokoei is excellent!
Dr P M Holmes, Biophysical Specialist, Biodiversity Management Branch, Environmental Resource Management Department, City of Cape Town

Many thanks for the super book. I LOVE it.
Dr John Manning, Senior Specialist Scientist, Compton Herbarium

Over dinner last night Tony Rebelo and his wife Pat Holmes were lauding it thick & fast ... it will enrich us both ... what an inspiration TP is to emulate.
Marion Ellis

... what a delight it was to see it and read through all the notes etc on his life. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Dr E.G.H. Oliver, Dept. of Botany & Zoology, University of Stellenbosch

Thanks for doing a great job of the book, it was one of my dreams to see him given his rightful acknowledgement as a collector and, more important, an astute naturalist.
David C Le Maitre, Conservation Biologist - Hydrologist Natural Resources and the Environment, CSIR

It is totally wonderful reading ... It is superb in every way: the text, the design and the assembly.
Peter Linder, Institute for Systematic Botany, Zürich, Switzerland

What a fabulous book. It makes me laugh, it teaches me a lot, and its layout is brilliant. I am thrilled and full of admiration. Congratulations!

Cameron and Rhoda McMaster, African Bulbs

What a fantastic book. I have been lost in it since retrieving it from the Post Office - I feel quite uplifted by it.

Stephen Smuts, Napier Fynbos Reserve

I am very impressed ... the floral photographs are outstanding. You brought him to life.
Tom Stokoe (grandson of TP Stokoe's brother, Robert)

We are most impressed and fighting over who reads it first, if I put it down Ed picks it up and vice versa. Well done to all of you.
Merran Silberbauer

I would like to congratulate you and your team on an excellently produced book. The format used links so effectively with the life and times in which Stokoe lived.
Sandy Jenkin

An interesting and entertaining presentation of an exceptional person. Mountains were obviously a second home to TP. Amazing how long it took before he "ran out of starch" when hiking.
Rob Jennings

I have already read parts and find them well-written, interesting and informative.
André Rabie

I am very impressed!
Wessel Joubert

I rationed myself to so many pages a day in order to prolong the enjoyment. I haven't really loved reading a book like this in years, and I'll really treasure it in my collection. Thank you both for your wonderful research and the writing and presentation of this true little Gem.

To anyone going to the Clanwilliam area a trip out to see the rock art described in this book is a must. Taking along the book makes the paintings that much easier to find and the background info is very informative. Well done Peter and a big thanks to Haffie Strauss for sharing these wonderful sites with us.

I have no hesitation in recommending this guide to anyone who wants to explore the Pakhuis region, learn its secrets, and marvel at the richness of its diversity.
Dr Mike Fabricius, CEO Western Cape Tourism Board

The Agter-Pakhuis, Bushmans Kloof, Biedouw Valley and Wupperthal areas are rich in historical, architectural, cultural and natural features which are well documented in the handy booklet ‘Beyond the Cederberg’ by Peter Slingsby and Ed Coombe ... I will certainly have it with me when I head out in that direction again.
Jon van den Heever, Cape Argus

Peter Slingsby and Ed Coombe have produced another tourist treasure in this ideal item for visitors to the Agter-Pakhuis, Biedouw and Wupperthal areas ...
Christopher Rodrigues, Cape Times

This book is a little gem ... It will certainly be on hand for my next visit to the land ‘beyond the Cederberg’.

Just a note to congratulate you on these excellent publications. The book is really fascinating.

It was a land where outlaws and the persecuted once roamed ... today predators still hunt silently in the mountains, a band of wild horses runs freely in the marshlands and the fish eagle’s call can be heard – the haunting, high wild sound of Africa ... this is a place with a history as rich as a perlemoen potjie ... all this and 100-odd pages more is to be found in a little gem of a guide, ‘Fynbos Coast’.
Murray Williams, Weekend Argus

The best mini travel guide that I have ever seen ... if every country area had a guide as good as this one, travel in our beautiful country would be so much more enriching.
Barry Ronge, SABC, who found our book on a visit to Betty’s Bay

A new book, ‘Fynbos Coast’ ... takes a journey through our area, from west to east ... comprehensive ... an essential guide.
